The 7th Ordinary Session of the Synod of the Anglican Church of Kenya, Diocese of Marsabit, officially opened at ACK St. Peter’s Cathedral, Marsabit, marking a significant moment of spiritual reflection, leadership transition, and strategic planning for the years 2025 to 2027.
This biennial gathering brought together clergy and lay delegates from all 19 parishes across the Diocese—each parish represented by their Vicar and two elected delegates. The theme for this session, “Wholesome Family for a Wholesome Ministry,” based on Joshua 24:16, guided both worship and deliberations, reminding us of the vital link between strong Christian families and effective ministry.
The Synod commenced with a powerful Holy Communion service led by our Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Rev. Qampicha Daniel Wario, with Canon Mark Kargi delivering a stirring homily on the importance of family as the foundation of faith. Delegates from Marsabit, Sololo, and Isiolo Archdeaconries united in worship, prayer, and fellowship.
Following the service, the Bishop officially opened the Synod during a session held at ACK St. Stephen’s Guest House and Training Centre, where he delivered his pastoral charge. Reflecting on the Diocese’s progress, Bishop Qampicha emphasized the growing need to nurture family life amidst rising social and marital challenges, calling on the Church to remain vigilant and compassionate.
Throughout the Synod, delegates engaged with presentations from various diocesan boards and departments, reviewing ministry progress and setting new goals. The final day saw important elections for diocesan and provincial boards, ensuring strong leadership and continuity for the next term.
