Diocesan SACCO – Chemi-Chemi The Diocese of Marsabit operates a financial empowerment program through its SACCO, Chemi-Chemi, which means “springs.” Led by Mr. Samwel Leduma, this SACCO primarily works with women’s groups to improve financial literacy and independence by providing soft loans to women and individuals engaged in entrepreneurship or business. The program collaborates with the Bishop’s Office, the Mothers’ Union Department, AMWEP, and other diocesan bodies to create financial opportunities for many disenfranchised women across the Diocese. Through savings and borrowing, Chemi-Chemi has transformed the lives of many women, enabling them to establish and grow their businesses, support their families, and achieve economic stability.
As the Bible says in Proverbs 31:16: "She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard." Chemi-Chemi empowers women to take charge of their financial future and build sustainable livelihoods.
"When women thrive, communities prosper." Chemi-Chemi is more than a SACCO—it is a movement for economic transformation and dignity.
