Sololo Archdeaconry

The Sololo Archdeaconry, located in the northeastern part of Kenya bordering southern Ethiopia, encompasses the parishes of Moyale, Wolda, Turbi, Anona, Sololo, and Uran. This region is characterized by its large and rugged terrain, predominantly inhabited by the nomadic Borana and Gabra tribes, with minorities also present. In the urban centers of Sololo and Moyale, a cosmopolitan mix of Muslims, traditionalists, and Christians coexist, with the latter influenced by Ethiopian worship styles and church administration. Despite these cultural dynamics, the Diocese of Marsabit has established a strong and growing presence, pioneering evangelistic efforts and founding many churches and schools across the archdeaconry. The current Bishop of Marsabit, Rt. Rev. Qampicha Wario, hails from this region and served as the Vicar of ACK St. Paul’s Church Sololo before his ordination. The archdeaconry’s large population, primarily young and faithful, is under the leadership of Ven. John Maganjo, supported by Rural Dean Guyo Oba and a dedicated team of clergy.

Isaiah 41:10 (NIV): So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
